1.0 Technique vs. Expression: Finding the Sweet Spot in Your Practice
Upcoming Webinar: Sunday May 24, 4pm – 5pm; Replay Monday May 25, 4am – 5am (4pm EST)
Create your own yoga masterpiece. Our world values success based on what we can see on the outside; on material wealth, on how clever or talented someone is, on external beauty. Yoga has not been spared from this superficial collection of things, and we see this through a fierce appetite for deeper backbends, complex variations in twists, and more demand for classes on inversions. While there is nothing fundamentally wrong with collecting a repertoire of technique, what is often missing is a corresponding focus on the “yoga” itself; on self-realization, self-expression, present-centered focus and connection both within and without. Julie takes you on a thought-provoking discussion of technique and expression and presents a view that without the spiritual side of the practice, we are simply musicians who have learnt how to play an instrument, who have perhaps mastered the musical scales, but will never take part in the real masterpiece. Technique and expression are two sides to creating your own yoga masterpiece (30-minute Webinar followed by 30-minute Q&A on IG live).

We often thing that stress is bad but in actuality it is essential to survival. On top of that it’s also a key part of many positive feelings we experience such as excitement. Stress can also improve mental and physical performance and even boost immune systems. Unfortunately, too much chronic and uncontrollable stress can have negative consequences for both physical and mental health. Kathy will guide you through an informative webinar that touches on the neuroscience of stress and learn the know hows of your nervous system so that you can better self-regulate and reduce the onset of problematic symptoms.
1.0 Creativity, Adaptation and Innovation: How it Applies to your Life, Work or Business in Times of Change
Upcoming Webinar: Sunday July 5th, 4pm – 5pm; Replay Monday July 6th , 4am – 5am (4pm EST)
Creativity is the ability to turn imaginative ideas into reality. It allows us to move beyond traditional ways of being and to step into new possibilities of thinking, seeing and acting. When we apply that to our lives in times of change, creativity is an essential survival skill that allows us to evolve and to remain relevant. It allows us to move forward either from difficult situations and environments that we have overcome or that no longer serve us.
As we come out of lockdown, we are finding ourselves in realities that are quite different from the ones we left behind. Some people have lost their jobs, some have had to leave their country of residence very suddenly, and for businesses like ours, it seems like everything you have worked for and put in place comes into question. Now, more than ever, our survival depends on our ability to tap into our creative consciousness to re-create a life, a purpose, a vision that works within this new reality.
In this webinar, we will explore different models of creativity, discuss habits and qualities that foster creativity, and help you to tap into out-of-the-box thinking that may very well open you up to a whole world of possibilities (30-minute Webinar followed by 30-minute Q&A on IG live).
2.0 Key Lessons from Covid for Yoga Businesses
Upcoming Webinar: Sunday July 19th, 4pm – 5pm; Replay Monday July 20th , 4am – 5am (4pm EST)
The toll that Covid has taken on the economy is massive. From job losses to business closures across all industries, most of us are having to re-evaluate how we do things. A close look at how events unfolded in the global yoga industry clearly reveals our desperate fight for survival. At the start of Covid, the yoga world eagerly offered the one beneficial thing it had to the rest of humanity, our practice of self-care, with teachers throwing free online classes out to anyone and everyone as a lifeline. Quickly, it became clear that we too need a lifeline. And so it began, that reactionary human instinct to try whatever we had to do to stay afloat. We watched from the corner of our eyes what everyone else was doing. Some, we applauded, some we tried ourselves, some we let be. This webinar is a sharing of some of the major lessons we learned during this time of Covid that we offer as advice, inspiration, and solidarity to anyone out there who has chosen Yoga as a trade. We hope to hear your voices as well in the IG Live Q&A following the webinar viewing (30-minute Webinar followed by 30-minute Q&A on IG live).
