THE POWER WITHIN - Andalucia, Spain Yoga Retreat

14 AUGUST – 18 AUGUST 2022

From ignorance, lead me to truth. From darkness, lead me to light. From death, lead me to immortality.

Sanskrit Prayer, Asato Ma Sadgamaya

From the moment of birth, we begin the never-ending push and pull between the Self and the world around us. Our reality, shadowed by a structured world of expectation, opinion, desire, linearity and cognitive processing that is so entrenched in the external world. We often forget that our greatness lies in the wisdom, sensing and power from within. In many ways, so much of our unease comes from a lifetime of aligning our deeper truth with what we are told is true, from being told what is worthy and valuable. As we evolve in this world our experiences become engrained as patterns within the physical, energetic, mental and emotional layers of our bodies. Knowing ourselves becomes a daunting task. Yet knowing ourselves and owning our truth is eternal freedom.

This August, we take you on a journey of deep reflection and true joy that comes from the freedom and permission to be exactly who you are! Our program is designed to help you unravel the layers of yourself and to provide you with lifelong tools to support the continuation of steady self-inquiry within the clutter of the modern world.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Learn how to design short and empowering self-practices to meet your personal needs.
  • Embodiment and somatic yoga to build  more acute sensory awareness.

RETREAT FACILITATORS

Julie Moksim

A veteran in global yoga gatherings, inspiring real conversations about yoga in Asia’s off-the-beaten path locations. Her work of a decade has put Luang Prabang, Laos, on the map as a yoga destination, after garnering the interest of Om Yoga Magazine and Australian Yoga Journal. Julie’s approach to yoga is accessible, but there is an intensity in its depth as she seeks to uphold its body of wisdom and intelligence. As co-director of Urban Yogis, Julie is now navigating Singapore’s yoga environment to bring her global network of knowledge resources to yogis looking for a practice beyond asana.

Mana Takai

In 2016, Mana left her creative director/consultant position in Japan’s fashion industry after almost 2 decades. She started traveling more to get closer to her true nature and joined yoga classes while traveling in Southeast Asia. After she got back to Tokyo, she took practicing seriously. She finally decided to move to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to change her lifestyle from one of the busiest cities, Tokyo, and go back to the spirit itself. She has found healing, compassion, and peaceful mind through ashtanga yoga practice and meditation. This transformation is what she shares and offers through her teachings. Mana is currently based in Washington D.C., in the United States. She was recently a finalist in the Washington Paper’s ” Best of D.C. 2021″ in the “Best Yoga Teacher” category.

Antje Luebbe

Antje practiced different types of yoga for 15 years until she moved to Thailand for a job. In Chiang Mai she started practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa on a regular basis and only then did the Prana really hit her and she understood what is meant by ‘Yoga is something I am, not something I do’. She wanted to learn more about the philosophy behind this movement therapy and spread the Love. Numerous workshops and the iflow Teacher Training in Ubud, Bali with Amy Pastore gave her the knowledge and courage to find ‘her kind of yoga’ and teach it. Antje’s teaching style is fluid, modern, playful and dancy, reflecting the many sports and different types of yoga that have influenced her practice. She has been teaching yoga locally and internationally since 2013. Her classes are a perfect balance between intensity and centering and will leave students feeling high and smiling for hours. Antje is currently based in Hamburg, Germany.

  • Julie Moksim
    Julie Moksim
    Co-owner & Yoga Instructor
I’m Singaporean by birth, global citizen by lifestyle, having lived in Indonesia, Egypt and India as a child and young adult, and later in the United States, Laos and Myanmar. My spark for yoga began while I was living in Boston in 2003, but my calling to teach grew much later out of the joy that I developed as a teacher’s assistant at the studio that I attended regularly. After completing a teacher training in Bali with Rachel Hull, Anna Smallwood, Emil Wendel, James Newman and Dr. Sujatha Kekada in 2011, I moved to Laos and started a yoga cooperative called Luang Prabang Yoga. Both the yoga cooperative and the immersive retreat programs that I lead under Laos Yoga Retreats have in some ways, put Laos on the map as a destination for yoga. I also co-owned a yoga studio in Myanmar between 2017 and 2019. My partnership with Kathy and Urban Yogis has grown out of a collective purpose to share knowledge and bridge the gap between people of different cultures, languages and belief systems. I trust that when a group of people come together from all walks of life, the opportunity for learning is boundless. Yoga has been an essential platform for these gatherings and for experiences that create more open-minded humans. Today, the biggest influence in my practice and teachings is Edward Clark of Tripsichore Yoga. He reinforces the importance of authenticity in how we express ourselves in movement. Ultimately, this translates to authenticity in life. I’d like to say to people out there, don’t be afraid to find out who you are, and when you find that person, don’t be afraid to be the person that you are! Thank you for taking the time to read this and to browse our website and offerings.
