EXCECUTING STABILITY IN HEADSTAND AND FOREARM BALANCE
We use “engineer” in the title because executing a stable inversion each and every time is all about understanding, and then trusting the physics of movement. Breath, coalescence and present-centeredness are all part of the process. There is no jumping allowed and the technique that you will use discourages a reliance on the wall. That is, we use the wall only in a way that builds greater confidence towards a free-standing headstand and forearm stand.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will be led through very specific movements that foster an integration through the physical body. You will learn how to identify the feeling of stability in your body through an intelligent flow sequence, and how to execute that feeling each time. You will then break apart the components that create stability and learn how to apply it when executing a headstand or forearm balance. Engineering stability in inversions is less about building “upper body strength” and more about learning how to integrate and use the larger muscles in your body.
This workshop is for anyone who struggles to get up into an inversion, as well as those who can already get up, perhaps by jumping, who would like to be more confident when upside down and to do so without the use of momentum.
Once you understand what it takes to build stability, and time permitting, we will explore arm and leg variations to add a little bit more fun, flare, and expression into your inversions.
